The Original Scriptures of the Bible

Almost every Bible you can buy is a copy of a copy. Editors work from older English versions and smooth the language until it reads easy and safe. This one was built the hard way. The founder went back to the oldest surviving texts we have, written in ancient Hebrew, Greek, and Ethiopian, and translated them line by line into fresh English, without leaning on any modern Bible along the way.

What comes out is something genuinely new: Scripturae Originales Bibliorum, ninety-one books gathered in the order history actually gave them, including ancient writings most people have never been able to read in plain English. Two hardcover volumes, hand bound in black leather with a gold cross on the cover, each one numbered by hand. This is not an old translation with a new cover. It is a brand new English text, built word by word from the oldest surviving copies we have. Reading it feels like hearing these books for the very first time.

Ninety-one books, finally in one place

Most Bibles hand you sixty-six. This one gathers ninety-one, including ancient writings like Enoch and Jubilees that were read alongside Scripture for centuries and then left out. A whole lost library, back in your hands.

Where the ancient copies disagree, you get to see it instead of having someone quietly choose for you. Damaged spots are marked honestly. Nothing is smoothed over to keep it comfortable. You read what the oldest witnesses actually say.

A digital file can be quietlyrewritten, softened, or “updated”overnight, and you wouldnever know it changed.

A book, foil-stamped and sewn into leather, cannot. What we press into these pages is fixed. We print the classics as they were written, every word, every line, in the author's own words, and bind them to outlast the servers, the edits, and the erasures.

Good to know

What's the difference between the Press, the Library, and the Studio?
The Press is a numbered run: one exclusive title at a time in a special binding made only for that run (currently Scripturae Originales Bibliorum). The Library is the standing shelf. Pick Cloth, Leather, or Vegan Leather and any listed title. The Studio is commission work: Custom Classic (any public-domain title), Your Manuscript (your own writing), or Bespoke Design (full consultation for dies, foil, and boards).
What do Library bindings cost?
Cloth is $49 with a foil spine title. Leather is $99 in full-grain distressed cowhide with full-cover foil and raised bands. Vegan Leather is $120 with the same foil finish and raised bands in a plant-based cover. All three use the same archival text block.
Is the Press edition the same binding as Library Leather?
No. The current Press run uses a dedicated special-edition binding: black leather, a custom cross die, and full-cover foil made only for Scripturae Originales Bibliorum. It is priced and produced separately from Library Leather.
When will my order ship?
Every book is made to order by hand. Press numbered runs and Library preorders both typically need 4–8 weeks for production and shipping at present. We review every copy before it leaves the bench.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your address.
What guarantee comes with my book?
Numbered Press runs carry our lifetime craft guarantee. If the binding fails under ordinary use, we repair or replace it for the life of the book. Library and Studio bindings carry our five-year craft guarantee. If the binding fails under ordinary use within five years, we repair or replace it.
What if my book arrives damaged or not as described?
Contact us at orders@gaffneypress.com within 14 days of delivery with your order details and photos. We repair, replace, or refund when a book arrives damaged, defective, or not as described. Full details are on our policies page (https://www.gaffneypress.com//policies).
Can I cancel or return an order?
Made-to-order books can be cancelled for a full refund within 24 hours if production has not started. After that, change-of-mind returns are not accepted. See shipping, returns, refunds, and cancellation at https://www.gaffneypress.com//policies.
How do I check my order status?
No account needed. Use the order reference from your confirmation email plus the email you used at checkout on https://www.gaffneypress.com//order-status. We also email you when your volume enters the bindery and when it ships.
Can I buy more than one book at a time?
Each checkout reserves one volume so we can bind it to order. To order another title or binding, complete a second checkout. Shipping and payment are collected by Stripe on each order.
Can I request a title that isn't listed?
Yes. Use Custom Classic in the Studio for any public-domain work ($150), or Your Manuscript ($199 and up) for your own writing after we verify rights.
What is Bespoke Design?
A full design commission with consultation first. We align on hide color, custom die, foil colors, marbled or printed endpapers, and custom board treatments before work begins. Priced after consultation.
